Club W // Wine Club
Most of the time, I hate advertisements. I don't fall for click bait very often and I'm usually pretty good at ignoring the product being pushed on me, even in my groggiest of states, but when I saw an ad for Club W show up in my Facebook news feed one afternoon, something caught my eye and I was immediately hooked. Was it the pretty picture in the ad? The clean and elegant font? Or am I just finally at an age where something like a wine club sounds fancy and appealing, even if I don't know shit about wine?
My mom was in a wine club when I was a kid and she would have wine sent to her from all over the world each month, and I remember how excited she would be to try each new bottle, and sometimes she'd even let me try a little, too. I had no idea what wine was, but I knew it made my mom happy, and I knew I wasn't supposed to drink it, and I knew that there was no greater disaster than when someone spilled it on the carpet.
Well, I'm 27 now and my wine knowledge still isn't very good. I know that I really like red wine. I know that white wine usually gives me a terrible stomach ache but I drink it anyway. I know that I can't drink very much red wine in one sitting or I'll be sleeping in no time and probably way drunker than the average person, but I know that it's delicious and that I think it's something I want to learn more about.
So, that's why I signed up for the wine club, and that's why I decided to share it on my blog today, because maybe you too have seen this ad in your Facebook feed and are at the age where a wine club sounds like something you want to be a part of but you're not sure if you should follow through with it or not.
If that's the case, fear not. I am here to tell you all about my Club W experience.
On the Club W website, you go through this fun, interactive introduction where you're asked a number of questions about different tastes as the system tries to guess what your palate prefers so that it can match you up with the perfect wine. I told them I only preferred red wine, so that helped them narrow things down even further.
I read the descriptions on each bottle that was presented to me and chose three winners that sounded the yummiest.
The payment/shipping process was quick and easy. I would suggest you make sure the package is shipped somewhere you know someone over 21 will be able to sign for it. I wasn't home yesterday afternoon and the FedEx guy left me a sad note on my door. I was home today though, so yay!
The packaging itself is very classy (as expected) and the wine looks so pretty. They give you cards explaining each wine in the box and even pair that specific bottle with a recipe they think goes good with that particular wine.
I don't know if I will continue my subscription of three bottles every month, but I think it's a cool idea and something I'll keep in mind for future parties, gifts, etc. You can also put your subscription on hold at any time, meaning you can skip a month or two which is really convenient! I've always wanted to be the type of adult who just has a ridiculous amount of wine on hand at all times. I'll have to be that type of adult later on in life though, when I'm not living in a 500 sq ft apartment... Anyway, for three bottles plus shipping, the total cost was $30, which is a totally reasonable price to me. Plus, the more you buy, the less expensive it becomes. :)
If you're thinking about joining, make sure you use my promo code link because you'll get a free bottle on the house, and I'll get two! (OoOoOooo.) Don't forget to tell me which bottles you choose! As always, thanks for reading. xo
